OUR HISTORY

In our 20+ years, Night Kitchen has undergone several iterations. We moved three times, scaled up and down and up again, and rebranded three times. Here’s a brief take on where we’ve been and how we got there.

NIGHT KITCHEN 1.0

As Night Kitchen Media we began in 1997 in a loft space in Old City, Philadelphia. There we produced multimedia projects as varied as The Splendor of 18th Century Rome, the Voyage of the Amistad and Explore Kilauea Volcano.

NIGHT KITCHEN 2.0

We moved to Society Hill in 1999, and in 2006 rebranded to Night Kitchen Interactive. We presented at museum conferences nationally and launched award-winning projects, such as the National Air and Space Museum’s How Things Fly online exhibit, Thomas Jefferson Foundation’s Monticello website, and the U. of Mich Museum of Art’s DialogTable touchtable.

NIGHT KITCHEN 3.0

In 2015 we converted a Victorian-era candy shop in Fishtown into our new studio. Here we hold open houses and workshops to share our passion for virtual reality, augmented reality, 3D animation and gaming. We refreshed our brand in 2020 to reflect our growing enthusiasm for designing immersive experiences.
