Storytellin’

Inspiration

The Delaware Art Museum wanted to create a web version of the “Picture A Story” kiosk activity that Night Kitchen Interactive developed during the first phase of the Art of Storytelling project – a collections-based education project geared to enhancing children’s appreciation for the visual arts through the wonders of storytelling.

Narration

Building on the success of the first phase, the Art of Storytelling website extends the museum’s audience reach, allowing individuals of all ages to contribute their own stories and compositions.

Design

Night Kitchen Interactive designed a visually-rich website that entices visitors to participate in the Art of Storytelling in multiple ways: Listening or reading stories, writing a story, or creating a masterpiece in the “Picture A Story” online activity. An art gallery, a kids-only section, and a teachers resources section also provide additional ways to experience the museum collections.

Interaction

Developed on a blog platform, the site offers a quick way to view the most recent contributions by genre or collection. Storytellers may email their composition and story to friends, or share their story with a wider audience by submitting their creation for inclusion on the Art of Storytelling website.
