NCC Engages Students in International Dialog on Democracy

This fall, Night Kitchen worked with the National Constitution Center to develop a website around its International Engagement programming and the Center’s role in fostering an international dialog around the American constitutional experience. With a dynamic homepage, blog, and access to information on current and upcoming projects, the International Engagement site connects visitors to the many compelling NCC programs thriving beyond its walls. One such project is Recording Democracy: The Making of "We the People".

Following 16 students, 8 from an independent school in Afghanistan and 8 from Philadelphia’s Constitution High School, it traces their exploration of what it means to be "we, the people" in their communities. Using digital photo and video cameras to capture images from their daily lives, the powerful result of their efforts showcases "the sights and sounds of freedom, religious expression, protest, and other civic themes" and will become an exhibition on display at both Afghanistan’s National Museum and the National Constitution Center.

Learn more about "We the people", view the students’ captivating photographs as the exhibit develops, and visit the International Engagement site to explore other groundbreaking ways the NCC is fostering global connections.
