Inspiration
The Thomas Jefferson Foundation wanted to promote on-site visitation to Monticello and expand its reach by creating a vibrant online destination that engages a global audience in a dialogue with Jefferson’s ideas.
Narration
An integral aspect of the redesign was to draw awareness of all that Monticello had to offer beyond its house and garden tours. With extensive in-house research expertise, the site’s offerings needed to be realigned in order to better convey a more holistic picture of Jefferson, his ideas, and the rich history of Monticello.
Design
Night Kitchen’s design was focused on creating a vibrant and engaging online presence that could support hundreds of pages of existing content, present the on-going activities at Monticello, and facilitate ways in which both visitors and Foundation staff could engage in meaningful online interactions.
Interaction
The website draws on the expertise of Monticello and the Center for Jefferson Studies to engage a global audience in dialogue around Jefferson’s ideas, the Monticello house and gardens, and plantation life through commenting, tagging, and favoriting across the website.
