Meet “Generation Curator”

"Generation Curator." It’s a great term for thinking about What’s Next in the future of museums. I came across it in the Museum Marketing Blog’s excellent posting on how Web 2.0 is radically changing what visitors expect from their museum experience. Among the post’s key insights - museums are perfectly positioned to appeal to this generation:
Museums are well-placed to appear to Generation Curator because they offer rich experiences which can be virtually cut-up and stuck back together online in numerous different ways to reflect the individual taste of each participant.
Yes, our world is over- saturated with media and information. Yet the hunger for content has never been greater and who has a greater wealth of interesting and diverse content than museums?
Side note: The above quote is from Jim Richardson, the writer of the Museum Marketing Blog and a lead consultant for the UK-based SUMO. It’s great resource for exploring how Web 2.0 can help museums brand themselves and target key audiences.
