Inspiration

The Jewish Publication Society (JPS) wanted an online presentation to portray its rich history of promoting Jewish literacy and culture around the world.

Narration

Night Kitchen created an interactive timeline that presents JPS’s key milestones in the context of broader historical events. Weaving together narration, music, and compelling imagery from the organization’s most significant publications, the timeline takes visitors on an engaging journey through JPS’s past, present, and future.

Design

Careful attention was made to showcase JPS’s accomplishments over the past 120 years in light of the publication industry’s changing landscape. Drawing from JPS’s richly illustrated publications, Night Kitchen Interactive created a design that honors JPS’s past, while presenting it as a forward-thinking organization that continues to have a significant impact in our culture today.

Interaction

A rich-media vignette encapsulates JPS’s 120-year history and serves as a dynamic gateway to the interactive timeline, Visitors can easily navigate through the timeline entries at their own pace, uncovering additional details based on their interests. The timeline also includes a “future” section to provide a preview of JPS’s plans to expand its offerings in the online publication arena.
