Inspiration
Building on the success of the Country Dog Gentleman interactive kiosk, a mobile gallery game has been developed to encourage families to experience the SFMOMA and its collection from a new perspective. The mobile game enables visitors of all ages to explore the museum, creating connections between the works in a fun and goal-oriented experience in the museum.
Narration
Canine characters Dingo and Collie leap out from Roy De Forest’s painting and guide visitors through the museum’s galleries. As the visitors travel from room to room, the guides encourage them to travel with their eyes and minds.
Design
In each of the galleries, Dingo and Collie call attention to details and connections between the visitor, the artwork, and the space around them. By using different modes of inquiry, visitors are inspired to find similarities, identify distinctive elements, and create connections between the various masterpieces.
Interaction
The mobile game inspires new ways of experiencing artwork and encourages dialogue between family members throughout their museum journey. As visitors advance through the mobile game, they experience the museum from an exploratory perspective, making virtual friends and creating real-world connections through social activities.
