We have the pleasure of working on new and innovative projects all the time. Below is a brief description of some of our current projects.
Night Kitchen Interactive has been chosen to create the How Things Fly website for the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum. As the most interactive exhibition in the museum, the website will complement the hands-on activities, bringing together both new and existing interactives, videos, and resources in a cohesive, highly interactive website.
Primarily geared to teachers and middle-school students, the website will engage audiences as they learn about the key principles of flight, apply their knowledge, and share their experiences socially and through classroom activities. The website is scheduled for launch in Summer 2011.

Night Kitchen Interactive is thrilled to be working on the development of two interactive installations for the upcoming Secrets of the Silk Road exhibition at the University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology. The traveling exhibition presents more than 150 objects spanning 3,000 years, and supports the museum’s mission to advance understanding of cultural heritage around the world and share that knowledge with visitors.
Through a touch-screen kiosk and an interactive multi-touch table, visitors of all ages will have the opportunity to trace the origins of a word as it evolved into different languages over time, and explore the beauty and complexity of the Chinese language as they uncover the meaning of Chinese characters in a multi-player translation activity.
Secrets of the Silk Road will be on view at the Penn Museum from February 5th through June 5th, 2011.

Night Kitchen Interactive has been selected for the design and development of the Environmental Challenges website for the Smithsonian National Museum of the American Indian (NMAI). This educational website will demonstrate what four Native American communities are doing to restore the environment through a combination of traditional teachings and modern science. With lessons learned from the four case studies, resources and activities will be provided to challenge 5th-8th grade students to think about actions that they can take within their own communities.
Ultimately, the website will promote dialogue and interaction through the exchange of stories and community initiatives aimed at environmental restoration and preservation. The website is expected to launch in Spring 2011.
At the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art’s most recent Free Family Day, Night Kitchen unveiled two new additions to the Country Dog Gentlemen Kiosk and Website. Now, web and museum visitors can travel to the extraordinary worlds of Robert Rauschenberg and Joseph Stella through imaginative storytelling and engaging interactive activities. Visitors young and old can create found-object "Combines" inspired by Rauschenberg’s Collection, or compose a symphony by exploring the spaces of Stella’s Bridge.
Since its launch in the Spring of 2009, the Country Dog Gentlemen interactive has enjoyed great success. The award-winning project, a collaboration with the SFMOMA, encourages children and their families to explore modern art in fun, exciting ways. In the interactive activities, visitors have the opportunity to make their own work of art and save it to the Dogs’ Best Friends Gallery, which has to date collected over 3500 visitor-generated works.
We are proud to announce that Night Kitchen Interactive has been selected by the Thomas Jefferson Foundation to redesign its main website, Monticello.org. As the only house in the United States to be designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Monticello attracts audiences from around the world.
In the coming months, we will be working with the Foundation to build on the success of the existing site, which offers a wealth of information on Jefferson and his plantation home and draws over 1.3 million unique visitors.
Slated for launch in Fall 2010, the website is envisioned to be a highly interactive online experience in which staff, volunteers, and global audiences can engage in a dialogue about Jefferson’s ideas.
We are excited to announce that Night Kitchen Interactive’s project, the Star Spangled Banner website, was recently designated an Official Webby Honoree! As Honoree status is awarded to project representing the top 15% of Webby Award submissions, this is a great honor. With this year’s pool of global entries nearing 10,000, we are thrilled to have been a part of the top most tier!
The Star Spangled Banner was developed for the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History and provides a captivating look at this iconic piece of Americana. Translating the museum’s popular exhibit into a dynamic online destination, the SSB site lets visitors explore the banner’s legacy, its construction and the efforts to preserve this historic object, as well as how both it and the classic song have been used by generations of Americans to express their identity and patriotism.

Expanding on its collaboration on the award-winning Country Dog Gentlemen interactive kiosk, Night Kitchen is working with the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art to create a mobile experience that will allow kids and adults to engage in a playful, interactive, and educational adventure within the museum galleries. The project will be unveiled this Fall so stay tuned for updates!

Carnegie Museum of Art has selected Night Kitchen Interactive for the redesign and development of its website. Beyond serving as a platform for audiences to experience the museum’s rich array of artwork and educational programs, this large-scale website redesign project is an opportunity for CMA to reinforce its status as a world-class museum

2009 was a busy and bustling year for us here at Night Kitchen, and we’ve been able to use our blog to keep you all up to date on what we’ve been up to! However, with the New Year dawning, we realized it was time for the Studio section of our site to reflect our latest and greatest.
In the coming weeks you’ll notice the onset of what will be a multi-phase redesign of this section of the site. Eventually, the Studio section will be a place where you will see not only what Night Kitchen as a company has been up to, but also the personal projects of our creative and passionate staff members.
In the meantime, check out our highlights reel, which highlights a selection of projects that best represent our design approach.

This fall, Night Kitchen worked with the National Constitution Center to develop a website around its International Engagement programming and the Center’s role in fostering an international dialog around the American constitutional experience. With a dynamic homepage, blog, and access to information on current and upcoming projects, the International Engagement site connects visitors to the many compelling NCC programs thriving beyond its walls. One such project is Recording Democracy: The Making of "We the People".
