Night Kitchen’s President, Matthew Fisher, was recently interviewed by the Chemical Heritage Foundation as part of the lead up to their upcoming exhibit, The Alchemical Quest. In the interview, Matthew discusses the strategy and development process for creating an interactive experience that will enable users to browse and explore a digital reproduction of two alchemical texts dating from the 16th and 18th centuries.
The interactive uses a new type of hardware known as the “MonkeyBook,” which mimics the shape of a physical book but uses rear projection hardware and gesture recognition software to detect the visitor’s movements and actions. This allows visitors to access pages of the books not on display and reveal animations and hotspots within the historical book’s pages, providing a fun, intuitive and educational experience for audiences.
The interview can also be viewed directly on YouTube or through the Chemical Heritage Foundation’s blog, Periodic Tabloid.
